AREA INFO

We prepared this page for your convenience, with our compliments.

We want your stay with us to be fun and full of great memories, both on and off the water!  We want you to come back and fish with us again!

Whether you are here alone, fishing for a trophy bass or traveling with family, friends, or business associates, there is something here for everyone, angler and non-angler.  We can assist you in finding clean, restful accommodations, good food, and interesting, fun things to see and do while you are here!

Lake Fork is surrounded by several small towns; Quitman to the east, Mineola to the southeast, Alba and Golden are located on the southwest side of the lake. Emory is located at the northwest corner, and Yantis is on the north shore, between two of the three main arms of the lake. Winnsboro is a town located northeast of the lake.  Further north is Sulphur Springs. At various times of the year, each of these towns have festivals, fairs, trail rides, rodeos, and other festivities.  Click on the local town links on this page for more information.

Lake Fork has many motels and lodges that are new or remodeled, clean, quiet, and reasonably priced.  Many of our fine marinas have motel and RV/camping facilities on site.  Others are located just minutes from the water.  If a bed and breakfast is what you are seeking, there are several we can direct you to that are minutes from Lake Fork.

All around the lake, residents and visitors have a variety of choices in restaurants.  All vary in price range and kinds of fare such as local "Mom and Pop" cafe dining, chicken fried steaks, barbeque, "Tex-Mex", burgers, pizza, pasta, "Cajun", steaks and seafood. Whatever suits your taste, chances are, it is here for you.

Forget to pack something important?  We have two "Walmart Supercenters" nearby, one in Sulphur Springs, the other in Mineola.  There are several grocery stores, convenience and fuel vendors around the lake to serve your needs.  We also have a variety of local shops, boutiques, and antique stores to browse. Tyler is approximately 40 miles south of Lake Fork and offers families things to see and do for free or for nominal admission fees.  Aside from the department stores, malls, and movie theaters, there is an 85 acre zoo, museums, amusements, a Tiger and big cat refuge, a symphony and those famous Tyler roses!

Click on the Links for more information.

In Athens, to the west of Tyler is the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center facility.  Tour the exhibits, learn about Share Lunker program, see the fish and fish the trout pond!

If you really love to shop, you have to experience Canton's famous "First Monday Trades Days"!  Canton is approximately 25 miles southwest of Lake Fork.  Shoppers can browse through acres of pavilions and booths stocked with every imaginable item for sale.  We mean acres! No matter what you are looking to buy, from puppies, to hand crafted furniture, art, clothing, jewelry, great food, etc., you will find unique, and wonderful things in Canton! This monthly event takes at least two or three days of walking to see it all.  'First Monday Trades Days" is open Thursday through Sunday preceding the  first Monday of each month.  All day parking is cheap and plentiful.  The town of Canton is transformed every four weeks into a bustling, little city for this event. Bring comfortable walking shoes!

Are you a Birding/Nature Enthusiast?  You are in luck!  The first phases of a new nature sanctuary began in 2005.  The sanctuary is located on the banks of the Sabine River, just south of Mineola.  There are also opportunities to see and photograph dozens of species of wildlife while on Lake Fork. Be sure to bring your camera and binoculars!

For the Golf Enthusiast, there are several courses on or near Lake Fork, including two 18 hole courses that are on Lake Fork's shores.

We look forward to seeing you soon, and being a part of your plans to visit Lake Fork!
